• MCG filming, photography and publicity events application form

  • The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is an internationally recognised venue and brand of historical significance.  All requests to film, take photos or conduct publicity events at the MCG must gain prior approval from the MCC Commercial Operations department.

    It is the MCC’s responsibility to preserve the integrity of the ground and control the use of MCG, MCC and Australian Sports Museum IP rights.

    The MCG operates as a venue 365 days a year and it is the MCC’s primary responsibility to present the arena in premium and safe conditions for players, therefore arena works will take precedent over filming.

  • Please note: if you select 'network promo' or 'content filmed now, for display later during event day broadcast' a $1,000 fee plus GST will be charged. Additional venue access fees will also apply if the shoot exceeds two hours

  • Commercial Licensing Fee

  • The Commercial Licensing Fee relates to the right for a company to leverage the MCG's reputation in thjeir campaign promotion, activation, etc.

    Also applicable for any activity involving third party brands, sponsors or broadcast partners.

    Please note, payment of the Commercial Licensing Fee does not grant permission for the company to imply a direct association or partnership with the MCG, MCC or Australian Sports Museum.

  • Cost Recoveries

  • The Melbourne Cricket Club, as managers of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and Yarra Park, may need to provide support personnel depending on the nature and scale of the production, and additional supervision and administration charges may apply, particularly when required outside of normal business hours. 

    Additional services which could incur costs include:

    • Audio visual support
    • Electrical supply and support
    • Security officer
    • Safety officer
    • Cleaning
    • Catering
    • Big screen and LED signage hire
    • Car Parking
    • Supervision and administration fee

    These charges, as well as any venue access fees or commercial licensing fees, will be discussed with the applicant throughout the planning.

  • Stadium noise and movements

  • Please be mindful that the MCG is a working stadium with various venue hirers, activities, and contracted maintenance works being conducted on any one day.  These include but are not limited to MCG Tours, scoreboard bookings, PA and sound system testing, fire alarm testing, functions, seating bowl cleaning to external seat cleaning, catering deliveries etc. 

    We will make best endeavours to advise you of any situations that may impact you however you should remain flexible during your shoot.

  • Australian Sports Museum

  • Access to the Australian Sports Museum is conditional upon the user agreeing with the following terms and conditions, in addition to the guidelines specified in the preceding points:

    • Only general views of the Australian Sports Museum galleries, exhibitions and spaces may be filmed and no close up photography or filming of individual objects is permitted. The Australian Sports Museum is not the owner of all intellectual property contained within the Australian Sports Museum and third parties (lenders of objects, artists whose work is displayed, etc) will need to provide approval before an item is photographed. 
    • No adjustments to the Australian Sports Museum's audio-visual systems will be made during public opening hours. 
    • Users must not attempt to alter, modify or manipulate a video or audio signal, images or data within the Australian Sports Museum in any way. 
    • The Australian Sports Museum lighting display cannot be altered. Users are requested to bring their own temporary lighting if it is required. 
    • All equipment brought into the venue must be tagged and tested to comply with MCG safety requirements. 
    • If filming during public opening hours, users must not
      • adversely affect the experience of Australian Sports Muesum patrons
      • leave equipment unattended
      • run unsecured cables across walkways. 
    • No food or drink may be brought into the Australian Sports Museum under any circumstances. 

    The user acknowledges that the Melbourne Cricket Club has the right to control access to the Australian Sports Museum and may arrange for the removal of any persons who fail to comply with these terms. 

  • Occupational health and safety and online induction training

  • Compliance with strict site safety requirements is imperative to protect all our staff and visitors. The approved applicant is responsible for the safety of their employees and contractors, and must ensure that their activities comply with all relevant legislation and do not create a hazardous environment for anyone visiting or working at the MCG. 

    All crew and talent must complete the online occupational health and safety induction training in advance of filming at the MCG. The training is valid for two years. 

    Should the client be unable to complete safety training for any reason, they will still be able to proceed with the shoot. However, they must be accompanied at all times while on site by a staff member and therefore staff supervision and security fees will apply. 

     

  • Venue Access Agreement

  • Approved applicants will be required to complete and sign a Venue Access Agreement, which will be provided by the MCC. A copy of the production company's public liability insurance to the value of $20,000,000 will also be required along with the MCG being cited as a place where the venue hirer's insurance is valid. 

     

  • Catering

  • No external catering may be brought onsite. Any catering for film crews must be arranged through MCG Catering at least four days prior to the filming date. For smaller film shoots, the Hugh Trumble Cafe is available from 7.30am - 1.30pm, and Paddock Cafe is open Friday - Sunday. Further information is available upon request. 

  • Non-compliance with Venue Access Agreement

  • When conditions for a Venue Access Agreement have been breached, the following actions may be taken:

    • Cancellation of any approval that has been issued for the day in question
    • Instruction to cease all activities immediately and remove all personnel and equipment from the site
    • Forfeit of any and all fees paid to the MCC to offset any losses or damages incurred
    • Additional fees may be incurred to offset any losses, damages or reinstatement costs. 

     

  • Cancellations

  • Should the applicant change their mind and cancel the booking after the application has been provisionally approved, the applicant will be liable for the payment of the administration fees plus any other costs incurred by the MCC in preparation for the production. 

    A booking may be cancelled by the MCC at its discretion due to circumstances, including but not limited to, weather or non-availability of the MCG. If the MCC cancels the booking, the administration, venue access and commercial licensing fees will be fully refundable. Only hard costs incurred by the MCC will need to be recovered from the applicant. 

  • Submitting your application

  • By clicking submit, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the guidlines outlined above and agree to operate in accordance with these guidelines, and the Victorian Screen Industry Code of Conduct. 

    You also acknowledge that all information is truthful and accurately reflects your organisation's intended activity at the MCG. 

    I understand that should I fail to comply, the MCC may withdraw its approval and/or access to the MCG and other media events relating to the MCG, MCC or Australian Sports Museum.
